Message Outline (Parenting)
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE OF PARENTING

PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDREN

Youth workers are not the primary responsible ones

Not imposing on others, but seeking Christ

PUTTING OUR CHILDREN UNDER THE MORAL LAW

Shaped in the form of Christ's humanity

     What about sin?

Building Up a Proper Conscience Enroute to Receiving Christ

The New Testament Transition from law to Christ

          Nurturing the God-given Humanity

Parents must foster an atmosphere of LOVE in the HOME by being “imitators of God as beloved children.” - Ephesians 5:1; Galatians 5:6

Parenting is an exercise that is reflective of the Triune God

LIKE GOD THE FATHER
     Ephesians 1:4-5; Hebrews 12:5-11

Parenting is like God the Father conveying to each of His children his or her own preciousness

Parents, like God, are full assurance and commitment:  full of hope, understanding, supportive, kind and sensitive in lowliness and meekness, long-suffering and patient.

Parents exercise discipline to bring children to their highest potential first humanly then spiritually

LIKE GOD THE SON
     Romans 5:8; Titus 3:4-5; Hebrews 4:14-16; 1 Peter 2:21

Parents always accept the children for what they are and what they can do

Reaching children where they are at and instilling “faith” and confidence

Parents creating a “can do” atmosphere in the home

Parents rewarding positives and helping them to press forward

Being their high priest, encouraging them, standing with them, supplying them

Parents exercising ourselves to be their model and prototype

LIKE GOD THE SPIRIT
     John 14:17; Romans 8:26-27

Parents being their “paraclete” who comes alongside the children, raising them up to higher and higher standards as human beings.

Being their careful and diligent disciplinarians, teaching and training the children in all environments with all kinds of people.

               Communication

               Learning to respect our children

               Giving our children “room”

Always dealing with ourselves first

Becoming one with God, by passing through the cross, bringing our natural man with his old manner of life to death

Allowing the Lord to deal with us

Making our selves approachable, taking the initiative to approach our children.  Finding an entrance into them.

Becoming an intimate friend and confidant; communicating, reasoning and guiding by coming alongside; not provoking or vexing - Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21

Parents needing to bear the testimony of Jesus, as those who love the Lord, follow the Lord, and serve the Lord in a fresh consecration, sanctified, bearing a positive burden for the building up of the church, dealing with the world under the cleansing of the blood of the Lamb.

Spiritual Labor With Our Children: Praying and Watching for the Lord's Move.

Working together with the Lord distinguishing between guidance in moral matters and spiritual matters, being confident in demanding obedience in moral matters, not insisting on spiritual conduct until we see the Lord's work.

Focusing primarily on life habits when the children are first saved and first love the Lord.
